It is so hard to believe I've been here one week already. Time has really flown by!
It has been a really relaxing day here at the FRidge. There is basically a skeleton crew working in the morning, and then in the afternoon the focus is on greeting the newly arriving guests and getting them situated. We did have a delicious breakfast, of course, and our lunch was a sack lunch (no picture) of leftovers from earlier. A couple of people got AB&J's, but most everyone had chicken salad, a little tub of leftover soup, a piece of fruit and a little baggie of veggies.
When I woke up this morning my legs were extremely stiff and sore, especially near my right ankle. My massage guy strongly recommended that I rest it today so that I can participate fully in the hikes and exercise classes this week. Hey. . . he's the expert! So, I hung out at a cabana near the pool and chatted with some of my new friends, and Skyped with my sister. That was fun! :) (It was like I was sitting at her kitchen table.)
So, I thought I would show you around the place a little. . . Enjoy!
The front of the building. Those tall windows are the aerobics room (near set) and the gym (far set). That handlebar you see is that of a Street Strider. It's the love child of a bicycle and an elliptical machine.
The front entrance.
The lobby.
The pro shop. Very reasonable prices, actually.
This is where we have all of our meals served to us, and where we have most
of the lectures about nutrtion, calorie counting, etc.
Looking from the dining room out onto the patio area and the pool.
From the patio to the pool, again. This patio is where I eat my little orange every morning before the hike. The building behind the pool is where my room is. (The lower left-most window.)
The wonderful hot tub!!
One of the cabanas on the pool deck. Even in the shade, it is blazing hot out here mid-day! The doors you see lead to the aerobics room (left) and the gym.
Aerobics room, where we do Stretch, Kickboxing, Step & Pump, Cardio Disco Jam, Ball Works, and watch Jillian Micheals' Losing It on Tuesday night!
The gym. Eerily quiet when I took this picture.
The view of the landscaping just outside the gym. Recognize that sculpture out front?
The gorgeous red mountains are just beyond.
Overview of the FRidge from the back. The patio is hidden directly behind that tree,
and the hot tub is on the left behind those four "doorways"
Overview of the front of the FRidge. There are those beautiful mountains I can see from the gym windows!
So, tonight we welcomed all the new guests for this week. It is fun to see all of their new faces, sort of dazed and confused—exactly how I felt at this time last week! I've got one more week to give it my all here, and I'm going to enjoy every last minute of it. . . well, as much as I can enjoy it while I'm woking my ass off! :)
The menu and meals for today: (I didn't get a picture of lunch.)
If you look closely (and really use your imagination) you can see that I got a heart-shaped sausage. :)
This is beautiful AND delicious!
This is the modified key lime pie. It was very good. I was hoping for a little more tartness (like key limes are).
I'm getting that nervous feeling again about where we will be going for the hike in the morning. Tomorrow everyone will be "assessed" on the hike and will be put into the appropriate hiking group for each person's skill level. Last week, I learned, I was in the "intermediate" group. I felt pretty good about that! I may not be the fastest hiker, but I certainly do enjoy it (and I take lots of pictures). If nothing else, I have learned that putting vaseline on my feet before a hike really does help!
Time for my beauty rest! Goodnight xoxo
Fantastic pictures! Feel like I was there and had the grand tour! Was fun skyping you today - we were on there for about 50 minutes! Can't wait for the update tomorrow...oh, and btw...if you happen upon a PINK Biggest Loser t-shirt (in the gift shop or something), I'd be happy to take it from you, 'cause I know pink is NOT your favorite color. ;0)
ReplyDeleteare those brussel sprouts?!?!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the altitude out there? I bet a lot of lowlanders who come to the resort probably struggle on the hikes because they're used to being able to breathe. Coloradoans don't have that problem. *LOL*
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I don't think they have anything pink, here Bird! lol
ReplyDeleteYes, Patsy, those ARE brussel sprouts. Things will be changing at the Sullivan Cafe!
You are exactly right, Kai. There was a woman who arrived yesterday who was really winded swimming in the pool for a bit. She is from Chicago. I, frankly, haven't really noticed anything due to my change in altitude. . . except that maybe I can catch my breath easier. (The altitude here is right around 3500 ft.)
